About Bel Canto Orchestra/Band Programs...

Bel Canto Strings was founded in 2011. Our mandate is providing affordable lessons to learners of all ages & experience levels. With group programs costing only ~$10/week and the inclusion of a free instrument rental, learning to play violin has never been so accessible! Our group programs are fun and educational, with students learning a variety of music from classics like Bach and Beethoven to movie themes, radio hits, Bluegrass and Celtic fiddling. The group setting is a wonderful way to learn to make music with others. Our ensembles perform throughout the year in the community, including free concerts at retirement homes, libraries, markets, sports games, churches, charity events, music festivals and competitions.

About Private Lessons...

Students who choose to take private lessons generally follow the Royal Conservatory of Music levels, studying a diverse program of musicianship including repertoire (songs), etudes, scales and technique, ear training exercises and sight reading skills. While not every student chooses to perform an exam each year, musicians are encouraged to set this goal for themselves to inspire their home practice and development. Two yearly Solo recitals are held, in December and in June, for private students to showcase a song they have learned in front of their peers and families.

About Bel Canto Instructors...

Bel Canto Strings is owned and directed by Miss Jennifer with some teaching assistance a few hours each week by professional colleagues: Mrs Trina on cello, Mr Dave on guitar. Our professional staff also performs regularly at weddings, corporate functions and other special events - please see our Weddings page.
